FaceValue
A Token-Gated Identity Layer for Crypto Culture
AI
Likeness
Project Overview
Identity platform where users mint their faces as tradable tokens.
Summary
FaceValue was an experimental product built around the idea of crypto-native identity, where faces, memes, and clout could be tokenized, traded, and verified. As the sole designer, I created an end-to-end mobile experience that combined face recognition, social proof, and on-chain reputation into a gamified identity layer for the Web3 space
The Problem
Crypto lacks a real sense of identity. Anonymous wallets dominate social platforms, making it hard to verify reputation, culture, or community standing.
Key Frictions
No connection between wallet address and real identity or status
Social clout in crypto is fragmented across platforms and unverifiable
No easy way to tokenize identity or prove cultural value
Landing

Design Goals
Design Goals
Let users mint their own “face” as a tokenized identity asset
Build a gamified, social-first interface that encouraged discovery and clout signaling
Allow holders to gain recognition, boost their rank, and display their crypto culture

Design
Face Minting & Verification Flow
Designed a lightweight selfie capture flow with real-time framing guidance. After confirmation, the image was hashed and minted as a token on-chain.
Facial framing feedback (circle overlay, crop zone)
One-tap selfie confirmation and mint
Safety messaging around permanence and public visibility
Leaderboards & Clout Ranks
Created dynamic leaderboards based on wallet activity, face mints, token holdings, and social sharing.
Top Faces of the Week
Rare/early face holder rewards
Volume-based reputation boosts (verified whales, etc.)
Identity Badges & Profile Layer
Each user wallet was enhanced with a profile layer that included:
Tokenized face avatar
Wallet-based activity badges (OG, Whale, Shitposter, Builder)
Social integrations (Twitter/X link, Discord, etc.)
Discover Feed & Viral Interactions
Designed an infinite scroll feed for discovering new faces and collections.
Swipe to boost, burn, or collect faces
Trending tags and cultural moments
Face remix or dupe functions to gamify virality
How it Works

Impact
Impact
Impact
Established a new design language for how identity and crypto can intersect in public-facing, social ways
FaceValue let me experiment with what it means to design identity for the decentralized web. It wasn’t about KYC. It was about crypto clout, meme presence, and designing for human expression on-chain. The project pushed me to simplify complex verification processes into playful, viral UX. It was weird, experimental, and unforgettable.
